About Us

Who is AFES?

AFES stands for the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students.
Our mission is to proclaim Jesus at university in order to present everyone mature in him.
Jesus has authority over all nations, and so we share the gospel and make disciples as broadly as Jesus’ lordship.
We are passionate about students modelling mission to students to share their faith in Jesus with peers.
We have a rich history of students initiating and carrying forward university mission in partnership with staff.

The History of Uncover

Uncover is an exciting resource that pairs a beautifully-packaged copy of Mark and Luke’s Gospel with questions and videos.

Launched by UCCF (Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship, UK) initially for students and then for churches, to help people discover more about Jesus and the life he offers.

Uncover Luke adapted by AFES with permission from UCCF, to help students in Australia to see for themselves the claims of Jesus from the bible.

First Australian Uncover website launched.

Uncover Mark adapted with permission.

Website relaunched with improved navigation to keep the focus on discovering who Jesus is from the bible.

Uncover John added in December, just in time for the 2024 Meet Jesus National Mission!!

What We Believe

AFES upholds the fundamental truths of the Christian faith, including:

  1. The divine inspiration and infallibility of Holy Scripture as originally given and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  2. The unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
  3. The universal sinfulness and guilt of humanity since the fall, rendering men and women subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.
  4. The conception of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit and his birth by the virgin Mary.
  5. Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death, as our representative and substitute, of Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.
  6. The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
  7. The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective in the individual sinner, granting him or her repentance towards God, and faith in Jesus Christ.
  8. The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.
  9. The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
